  • Oficina de VJ / VJ Workshop

A workshop in VJ (video jockey) techniques for cinema students at the Brazilian nonprofit Cinema Nosso in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. Each student shot video footage on the famous staircase, Escadaria Selarón, created by artist Jorge Selarón and street graffiti in the neighborhood of Lapa. They then mixed four clips of video footage with still images they selected to interpret the lyrics of their favorite songs. Still images and video clips were triggered in percussive rhythm to their favorite songs on a Korg Nanopad with a custom max/msp/jitter application to create a live improvised mix. Live mixes were recorded in a web ready H.264 QuickTime format.
